So I go to SuperAmerica today to buy gas for my cab, so I can start my work week. At the cash register is a petition. Apparently, SA is boo-hooing about the 2% they are charged by credit card companies in order to process card transactions.
Two percent? What are you guys whining about? I pay 5% every time one of my customers uses a card. I'm not thrilled about it, but it's just a cost of doing business.
It's easy to bastardize the credit card companies these days. And I'm not saying all their practices are necessarily customer friendly. But think where we'd be these days without our trusty little bank issued debit card. Do you think all those services should be free?
Considering that I drop at least $150 per week at SuperAmerica, I don't feel too sorry for them. Somehow, I don't think that little 2% credit card processing fee will break them any. It will just give them more justification to jack up gas prices more. And I'm sure it will be more than 2%.
Adios...
