A question about picture IDs at the polls...

As a middle aged guy with a drivers licence, I would find little inconvenience in producing an ID in order to vote. I would like someone to explain to me why this is such a big deal. Especially if IDs were made available free at at low cost.

Again, because of my situation, I don't have position either way yet.

Convince me please...

did a meet and greet at a senior center in Glencoe. of 60+ seniors < half had ID. similar in other places
