Debunking the Reagan myth...

I get a good laugh out these Tea Party types that yearn for the days of Ronald Reagan. Despite everything Progressives know about his policies that made poverty a cold reality for way too many Americans, let me remind you of some of the things that would make him an outsider in today's Republican Party.

The "no tax" crowd should know that Ronnie raised taxes some 7 times, during his time in office.

The "shoot 'em at the border" crowd may not remember that Reagan granted amnesty to an estimated 3 million illegals, back in 1986.

There are many people that give Reagan credit for the downfall of the "evil empire," Soviet Union. Anybody that was really paying attention back then, will remember the Soviets lust for world domination killed their economy, thus leading to their demise. This is a lesson the chicken hawks of today would be well served to learn by.

So every time the likes of Limbaugh or Hannity preach from the book of Reagan, take solace in knowing that the real Ronnie would more than likely be booed out any Tea Party rally.
