It’s Monday, after a simply glorious weekend here in the Midwest… The beginning of a VERY busy week for me: Firm work deadline on Saturday, the 3rd, family coming on Friday, and a house that must at least look, like I attempted to clean… With this in mind, I began the morning with the decision to take a step back from the unpaid, and mostly thankless, world of Politics… Yeah, right!
My first mistake was opening Twitter and Facebook… Where I am greeted by the insane antics of the “new”, and not so improved, Republican Party/Tea Party… Yes, Republicans – If you didn’t denounce them early, you get them late! They are yours until 2012! But I digress…
Elsewhere in America, some of her citizens were not as fortunate, as we in the midwest. They were visited by a hellish guest, named Irene… And, how did Eric Cantor of Virginia, comfort those exhausted citizens, some he represents? By saying there would be NO federal disaster relief, in his state or others, unless offset by budget cuts elsewhere. In other words - cut off Peter, to pay Paul.
Cantor: No Disaster Relief Funding for Hurricane Irene Without Budget Cuts
By Alex Seitz-Wald
Despite the devastation caused by Hurricane Irene this weekend, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) today stood by his call that no more money be allocated for disaster relief unless it is offset by spending cuts elsewhere. The Washington Post reported this morning that FEMA will need more money than it currently has to deal with the storm’s aftermath and is already diverting funds from other recent disasters to deal with the hurricane, but Cantor’s comments suggest Republicans won’t authorize more funds without a fight.
No wonder my use of foul language has increased, with my involvement in Politics... Dee
