Bachmann plays the oil card again to regain momentum...

Seeing her popularity waning, Michele Bachmann reiterated her promise to bring gas prices below $2 per gallon. Interviewed on CBS' Face the Nation, Bachmann cited "an all-of-the-above energy strategy.” The Minnesota Congresswoman has long been a proponent of expanded domestic drilling, as a solution to this country's dependence on foreign oil.

Every study I've seen debunks the notion that even a dramatic increase in drilling here at home would do much to lower gas prices. Any junior high school student of economics knows that oil prices are controlled by the commodities market. There are too many billionaires counting on oil prices that hover at near $100 per barrel. We all know that Bachmann will do nothing to alter that course.

This is a dangerous game Bachmann is playing. It seems she is desperately trying to regain the momentum she had after the Iowa debate, and she'll say anything to get there.
